Although the original Ocean's 11 may be the quintessential, classic Vegas movie, the 2001 version of Ocean's 11 was quicky regarded
as a strong improvement of the slow paced heist that made the original drag. The pacing of rhe original was more suited for a nightclub act and failed to build
much tension but its appeal was more charm and Vegas glamor than making a credible thriller. The lounge act music alone demonstrates that the film makers were banking
on star appeal. Practically no tension building, Mission Impossible sound effects are heard. The 2001 remake of Ocean's 11 was able to meet its original version with
ample star power in George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. But it added so much more with intricate details about top of the line casino security
and stunning settings at the Bellagio. Ironically, some of the then brand new parts of the Bellagio have already been replaced. A stunning, chandleliered,grand stairway
has been destroyed in Las Veags' never ending process of building and rebuilding.
George Clooney's Danny Ocean is almost perfect as an up-to-date version of Las Vegas legend Frank Sinatra. The star powered chemistry that works so well
in this excellent remake captures and recreates the Rat Pack magic. Clooney's devilish insouciance, comfortable rapport with his fellow actors, coyly winks
at his audiencen with glimpses of this charmed what each of them was going to say.
